Meckeys: four years inside a keyboard store

Meckeys sells mechanical keyboards, switches and e-sports gear to enthusiasts across India. I came in to fix their pre-orders in August 2021 and kept building for four years: GST and invoices, a new look for the whole store, their own page blocks, an SEO tool, and a launch site for their own keyboard.

The brief

Meckeys has sold on WordPress and WooCommerce since 2018, and the shop now runs past a thousand products. Keyboards launch as pre-orders, and buyers need GST invoices that add up.

I started on my own in 2021, and from November 2023 kept going as WLBS, with Parag, Jyotirmoy and Shaban building alongside me.

What I built

2021 to 2022
Pre-orders that run themselves
A pre-order table and badges, a confirmation before anyone cancels, and refunds that go back through Paytm on their own.
2022 to 2024
GST, properly
GST numbers checked at checkout and carried onto the order, the admin preview and the invoice; later, a checkout block that checks the number against the register.
2022 to 2023
Invoices that add up
Discounts, coupons, shipping and tax on every PDF invoice, with each product’s category, and bulk order uploads that keep tracking details.
2023
A new look for the whole store
Home, product, category, cart, checkout and account, restyled page by page, with an order tracker in the account and styles that load only where they’re used.
2023 to 2024
Meckeys Blocks
Their own editor blocks, a hero with a slider, tabs, FAQs and a contact form with reCAPTCHA, so the team builds new pages without a developer.

SEO that drafts itself
A plugin that writes meta descriptions for products, categories and brands with GPT, and shows what a batch will cost before it runs.
2024 to 2025
Sign-in and addresses
Sign-in with a one-time code, email verification, Google sign-in, and an address book for customers who ship to more than one place.
Dec 2023
The Arion Frost launch site
A separate React site for Arion Frost, the keyboard Meckeys made with Keychron, live for its launch. Arion is now Arixa.
