SPEEDBOAT: an architecture portfolio, built to the file
A Hollywood studio that designs, builds and develops its own buildings needed a site as exact as its work. Gandhar Vamburkar designed it. I built it, to the pixel, and handed the studio the keys.
The brief
SPEEDBOAT is a design studio, construction firm and real estate workshop in Hollywood, founded in 2019 and named one of Archinect’s 20 must-watch emerging US practices. Their projects run from Echo Park housing to West Hollywood offices.
Gandhar’s design treats every project like a spread in a monograph. The job was to build that exactly, and make it something the studio could run without calling a developer.
What I built
Built to the file
Every spacing value, type size and state from the Figma file, checked side by side at each breakpoint, and again at 125% and 150% browser zoom.
A homepage that scrolls itself
A splash animation sets the tone, then an endless mosaic of projects pulls you into the work without asking you to click.
Filters you can send to a client
Filter by category, location or year. Every filtered view has its own link, so the studio can share exactly the right set of projects.
Eight ways to set a title
A small control cycles project titles through eight layouts. An architect’s kind of detail, built exactly as drawn.
Contact and credits without losing your place
Both open as side drawers over the page you’re on.
The studio runs it
Projects, journal, services and tags all live in Sanity. Routine updates don’t need me.
